These books will continue to help my students discover the joy of reading. My classroom library is an open door policy- students choose book that they know they will enjoy. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they get excited at the prospect of independent reading time! But with students learning from home, that access to the classroom library is gone. After conducting a survey in my class, I discovered most kids don't have any fictional book in their home at all. All of these books have been chosen by my students. They had to convince me why they wanted to read them, so I know that they will approach these books will all the magic they hold. Reading is a SUPERPOWER. That's what I tell my kids. But so far this year, they have only read required texts, nothing that they got to choose, or got invested in. With the addition of these personally selected books, my kids will get to understand that superpower first hand. They chose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will allow them to understand all the magic in the written word.
