Students need to feel as if they are not alone with their hearing loss. They need to know that there are tons of other kids out there with hearing loss who are doing some amazing things! They need to know that they are not alone. Hearing Our Way is a magazine for kids and teens with hearing loss that engages, connects, and inspires young people through relatable content, role models, and strategies focused on listening, language, and self-advocacy skills. I would like to provide my students copies of this magazine so they can read about others who are just like them. We will use these magazines also in their individual sessions to learn how to apply what they are reading to their own lives. In addition, I'd also like to provide copies to the schools' libraries, so other students and staff can read stories about students with hearing loss to promote awareness.
