Like all DC public schools, since last March, my students and I have been learning together completely online. One of the aspects of our in-person days together that we have been missing the most during distance learning is the ability to enjoy and discuss books together. This project would make literature circles possible for us because parents would be able to pick up these wonderful chapter books at the school so we can all read them from our separate homes, but together. During this period where travel and social interactions are extremely limited, this project will give students not only the ability to connect with one another on a deeper level during our book discussions, but also the important reminder that we’re never trapped alone at home when we have books for company and to carry us all over the world. I've chosen books in both English and Spanish, since LAMB students learn in both languages each day, and that explore a wide range of themes and cultures.
