Our students are multi-language learners. These students come from varying countries, and English is not their first language. They come to our classrooms with excitement and an eagerness to learn. Although they are not my students, I have pledged to them that I will do my best to get this book for them. As the departmental teacher leader I visit every ELA class, and every time I pop in I'm met with smiles and laughter. I know that the resources we currently have in our book closet won't make the grade for this group of freshmen, I really want to find them materials that continue their excitement for school! John Lewis's March will do precisely that. Students love graphic novels, and this one in particular will teach my students about the struggle for civil rights in America. This is a flexible reading choice in our curriculum. The graphic novel will also be a more engaging option when we have students working on the novel from home due to the pandemic.
