Jehann El-Bisi will screen her documentary film, "The River Cried," about protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline in Standing Rock, then give a presentation and hold a Q&A with students. Students will learn about current environmental and social struggles within Native communities, including locally, and have a chance to ask questions. She will focus on the importance of clean water, the connection between the earth and activism, for Native people, and the importance of cross-cultural understanding. She will also share her experiences with a local university working with Indigenous activists in the Resistance Studies program.

About my class
