Due to the pandemic, my district has been engaged in remote learning since March. My role as a School Adjustment Counselor involves reaching out and engaging families and students, consulting and collaborating with school staff, working with outside agencies and providers, counseling students, and and teaching social-emotional skills. In a remote setting, I have to rely on technology and a working device that allows me to join and host Google Meets with my students and families. Unfortunately, my school issued device has not been reliable and does not work well when in Google Meets with students. This affects my ability to assess, counsel, and teach my students, as well as, create effective social opportunities for them. Having this laptop will give me functional and reliable access to my students while conducting remote learning. It is the only way I will be able to support my students throughout the school year, as many will continue to learn remotely. Social-emotional learning is as important as ever, especially with the effect the pandemic has had. Please help me support my students as best as possible.
