The AED trainer will help with the real process of using an AED along with high-quality CPR to help a person who is in cardiac arrest. There are three times in their school years where students will be instructed in CPR using the AED trainer. Students will use the AED trainer in their senior year of high school. That guidance follows the state of Michigan's requirement that all high school students leave school with the knowledge of CPR. Health class in 9th grade instructs students in hands-only CPR training while using the AED trainer. At this age, they are strong enough and ready to help when someone is in cardiac arrest. Seventh or eighth-grade health class should also have a basic knowledge of CPR and AED. They can help, but might not have the body strength at this age to do CPR. AED awareness and knowledge of its operation is something they can do to help save a life!
