In the state of Delaware, we have been given a mandate to remain teaching virtually. Creating a virtual classroom in my home with the standards that I had in my classroom has been a challenge. Having the items listed on my wish list will create a virtual classroom for optimum learning. The wacom pen drawing tablet is essential while teaching math. Because I am teaching both geometry and pre-calculus, I use a lot of drawing to explain information. Having a writing tablet with a pen can help to recreate the chalkboard and chalk simulation. Students will be able to see my write on screen just as if I was writing on a chalkboard in the classroom. This will help students feel more comfortable and as if they were still in a building to help increase learning. Second, the headset will help reduce noises in my home. While I do work from my office, my children are also at home learning as well. There are times when they are working and it can become noisy. Noise cancelling headphones with a microphone can help reduce distractions while I am teaching my students virtually. Lastly, teacherspayteachers gift cards have lessons that have been created in digital format. These digital formats are the same as students have traditional textbooks. These lessons are easily accessible via the google classroom and give students a soft copy of information that is normally given in textbook format. Having the gift cards to purchase supplemental curriculum and digital materials will give my students and better chance to learn this year and stay on pace for future learning. In conclusion, the point of my project is to help create my office into a suitable classroom to teach my students during this covid era.
