As I teach organ systems, health, and nutrition to our students, it is important for them to discover how humans works. Lectures and pictures are not enough. Elementary school students are young and do not realize what is hiding under their skin. When I start explaining about muscles, skeleton, and all the organs in the torso and their function, it opens up a completely new world to them. It would be such a help to have those wonderful models in the classroom. My students could see what our bones look like, what the organs that they hear so much about feel like, and how our food travels through our body. Through these experiences, students do not ever look at their bending elbows and growling stomachs with the same eyes anymore. It is like uncovering an analogue clock and seeing how all the parts work. I am a big fan of integrating Math and Science and completing projects. The books I am asking for will be used for a project where students will work in groups, research, and come up with a worthy product to present how nutrition affects our organ systems. Help me raise future scientists and doctors!
