In math classes, students often need to create and annotate on diagrams. Drawing these using a laptop touchpad without a touchscreen can be very cumbersome. Additionally, writing math text (equations, fractions, etc.) can be difficult using a computer, until students get the hang of using an equation editor. Even then, it is often easier to handwrite math work. We have noticed a number of our students are struggling with this, and we would rather give them access to the work than see them stop working because they are struggling to use the keyboard or touchpad to complete specialized work. Having a graphics tablet will support students in completing not only their mathematics coursework online but also in creating visuals and handwritten models for other classes. By donating to this project, you will improve students’ virtual learning experiences by increasing their ability to complete work that is easier done by hand than by typing. Additionally, because many organizations use computers to create graphic art, and having experience with a graphics tablet will give students who may be interested in this career area an edge.
