Many texts at early reading levels require students to use the pictures to figure out words, or require students to guess frequently to figure out the words. Decodable texts, on the other hand, include the phonics concepts previously taught, and allow students to read accurately without having to guess. This reinforces what they have studied in phonics intervention. In addition, it helps students feel successful and fosters a love of reading. Students will be able to take these books home so they can show their families how they can read accurately and automatically!
