This is the main material needed for this project. The air racer is a paper racer that glides across the floor. The students have to learn to measure properly and then use that skill to draft the four pieces needed to create the racer. Not only does this project improve measurement skills, but the students also need to interpret blueprints, assemble them which helps work on manual dexterity and they test and improve it which requires engineering skills. The ultimate test is a competition to see which one will glide the furthest. This is usually around 90'. I also award the coolest artwork on the racer, we take speed calculations and award the fastest, the most consistent racer, and the most improved. All of this makes for a fantastic learning project.
