The goal of my project is to acquire the supplies, storage, and activities needed to create meaningful and differentiated center stations. When instructing a class full of learners at various different skill levels, it can be difficult to give everyone exactly what they need at the same time. These differentiated centers give students the opportunity to learn at their personal skill level while having fun. Whether it's playing a sight word game with me at my small group table, reading their favorite books in our classroom library, or going head to head in an exciting math competition, these students learn best when they are engaged in something they enjoy. They enjoy center rotations so much that they don't even realize they are learning! While centers look different in a virtual setting, many of these items can be used whether we are in person or at home. In fact, using these games and items virtually can help break up the monotony of simply staring at a computer all day. When we do transition back into the classroom, these items will be there ready and eagerly waiting to be used. The ultimate goal of this project is to meet students where they are on the learning continuum. They all deserve to feel challenged in their own meaningful way. Differentiation helps provide that. These centers are more than just fun breaks, they lead to amazing BREAKTHROUGHS in learning!
