During STEM students explore science, technology, engineering and math through hands-on, cooperative activities. Due to COVID-19 we had to change the structure, schedule, and materials for STEM. Instead of coming to the library to choose from multiple activities, classes rotate kits with limited materials. Students are unable to move from activity-to-activity because students stay within their classroom "zones" to reduce possible exposure. To accommodate this change we need STEM materials that are: • Easy to clean/sanitize • Limited in number of pieces • Provide opportunities for all group participants to engage • Provide choice Students will use the requested materials in small groups to explore foundational STEM topics through both open-ended inquiry and by utilizing a design process (plan, do, review). Teachers will facilitate the learning by scaffolding, asking questions, and providing direction as needed. The materials requested nurture the following cross-curricular PreK standards*: 3. Participates cooperatively and constructively in group situations 9. Uses language to express thoughts and needs 11. Demonstrates positive approaches to learning 24. Uses scientific inquiry skills 28. Uses tools and other technology to perform tasks *The Creative Curriculum for Preschool
