Thank you so much for your support! Students will need additional supports when transitioning back to school-- when I've asked students what they miss the most about school, they talk about the tactile aspects of the classroom like working with paper and markers and art supplies. When we return we will still be using laptops for most work, so I want to provide frequent opportunities for students to work with their hands and use their creativity to collaborate like they used to. I think it's so important for students to be surrounded by their own work and for the classroom to be a reflection of what we are working on. I've asked for bean bag chairs, lighting, an essential oil diffuser, and other calming items as an SEL component-- this classroom is a safe space and I want them to feel comfortable in it! I also have asked for some tech items like headphones, lap desks, and speakers so as we adapt to the computer-based curriculum, students can modify their work environment to what suits them best.
