English Language Learners learn best when they are engaged in the classroom. Normally I do this by having them work in small groups, in pairs, or in stations, but all of that has gone out the window as we prepare to return to school in a socially-distanced environment. Student-centered learning is a tried and true way for students to learn. The Nintendo Switch, games, and accessories will encourage engagement, language production, and variety. By having students play co-operative games, discuss strategy and vocabulary, and write down responses I hope to engage them in creative ways as they get to the basics and beyond in the English language acquisition.
