Teaching in person during a pandemic has brought on a whole new set of challenges. Things have had to change in the classroom to accommodate requirements and think of student safety. The wiggle seats and clipboards will provide additional flexible seating and student choice in their own learning space in my resource classroom. They are easy to wipe down and clean daily. The paper products and label maker will be used to create individual sensory boxes for each child. They will have access to their boxes in my resource room and in their homeroom. This will cut down on shared materials and increase student safety in the classroom. With these new supplies, my students will have flexible seating choices and their own boxes with sensory tools to help them self regulate. They will help students with ADHD or sensory needs to sit and focus on their work. The wiggle seats are adjustable and can be used for a variety of ages and needs. These will continue to help students in the years to come despite their ages or sizes. The sensory boxes will provide break spots for students when they are feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, or just need a break. I have seen the importance of giving my students their own voice and opportunity to make choices in the classroom. I know these additional items will help them continue to self regulate so they can learn and grow.
