A young child's brain is like a sponge. It is most effective to introduce a child to the keyboard/piano early on when their brains are the most open to new experiences and to absorbing new information. Keyboard/piano lessons and practice sessions support memory development, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills. Studies have shown that music and mathematical skills are closely related. For example, children learn the mathematical skill of pattern recognition while studying music. Division is also taught through music as children learn to divide whole notes into quarter notes and half notes. It's not easy to sit at the keyboard/piano and practice every day. It takes patience, focus, and discipline. Children who know how to persevere when things are difficult, are more likely to succeed when they try new things with the end result being a recital.
