My students' small groups are based on the four Hogwarts houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw. My entire classroom is also a Hogwarts classroom! Each house contains a variety of skills but similar needs. Everything down to the paper they write on or letters they send home are designed to match the magic of Harry Potter. My kids are obsessed with materials unique to their houses; more motivated and engaged. I have a special opportunity to support imagination and creativity in their learning environment. I recently discovered colored notebook paper as a "show-your-work" motivator, and it was met with great success! We have also been reading the Harry Potter series as a book club. We are halfway through the first book, and they cannot wait to continue reading. We should be finished with the 1st book before the winter break; how cool would it be to give them their own copy of the 2nd?!
