We're back! Yes, we are finally back in with our school family. There are some changes, many changes, we have had to become accustomed to. Our classrooms now have fewer children, the children we do have are wearing masks, masks that inhibit social skills and stifle the voices of the little ones we are supposed to be teaching. These classrooms have also been decked out in plexiglass cubes that place barriers between students, their friends and the adult that have dedicated his/her life to teaching students in a pleasant and inviting environment. WIth so many changes in our school life we, as teachers, have to ensure that our students can be comfortable enough to learn. Our classrooms need to be equipped with materials that can be used by the students in a hands-on atmosphere. The students have to be relaxed in their new surroundings so they can gain the knowledge that is required to reach monumental educational goals. The students I work with are struggling to achieve the skills that are necessary to promote letter sounds and letter recognition. Most of these students are beginning readers, these readers are at a vital time in their journey to getting ready to read. At this time, in order to make a more impactful impression, my classroom is in need of items that will enhance and encourage the beginning reading skills that are needed to become more familiar with letter sounds, the sounding out of words and word recognition These items will be used to stimulate reading growth as well as inspire students to continue on the path to success.
