Knowing that my students are especially susceptible to the challenges of remote learning, I do my best to bring personality and creativity to each lesson. But, because of our district moving to remote learning, it is difficult to be able to visually represent and model step-by-step thinking without the ability to write in front of them. I will use the iPad, Apple keyboard and pencil to model step-by-step thought processes for my students, pushing myself to always "show my work" in all subject areas, and giving students the support they need to follow along with multi-step problems and complex texts. Since learning more about the nuances of different learning styles, I know that this capability will greatly enhance the classroom for my students who are visual learners. Especially for my students with learning deficits in reading, the ability to follow along consistently with text and annotations will aide in their journey (OUR journey) towards fluency. Being able to use this technology in the classroom, however, is about more than just screen-sharing. The ability to model thought processes helps students to recognize what logical thinking looks like, thus giving them the supports to be able to catch their own mistakes and, eventually, think independently.
