As many others, my students are learning from home. They are making great progress in math, but I am having a hard time reaching them with literature goals. I would like them to have multiple resources of words to read in hand that will simotanously encourage their awareness of other cultures and races. I have a novel study to highlight Hispanic Heritage in my class, so those students can feel empowered while other students get to develop more respect for new perspectives. I also have magazines from Time so they can explore articles and learn from international current events. I have asked for postcards and stamps so we can do a national postcard exchange and recieve postcards across the nation as well to support learning across states. This collection of items has been carefully considered to help my students grow: -in reading comprehension -to respect multicultural diversity among us and among the world -to be curious about events around our world -to be social/emotionally aware -to learn state history and interact with other students and schools across the nation -to grow from inside our self awareness to world wide awareness
