Typically, 4th graders in our school district learn to play the recorder as their first instrument to take home and practice. However, COVID has made it difficult to use recorders in a classroom if we go back to in-person schooling this spring. So, ukuleles are a great alternative! 4th graders will be learning an instrument, and there will not be any aerosol spread from playing them. Unlike recorders, these ukuleles will not be kept by this year's 4th graders. Instead, they will be kept by the school to be used by future 4th-grade classes.
