Students will be printing prototypes of their designs and deciding if they need to make revisions based on their prototypes. When we learn about the design process I try to give them all the opportunity to come up with their own unique design solutions to a set of problems. A 3D printer will give them the experience of taking an idea from paper then seeing it printed and being able to hold the final product. It also gives them firsthand experience using modern design and manufacturing methods. My school has offered drafting before but did not have a dedicated drafting teacher till now. I am try to build the program and get more students involved and having this ability should increase enthusiasm.
