Our day is very busy, but the children enjoy reading and being read to. A class listening center will allow students to listen to new and favorite stories. Students will learn to share as they listen with friends and compromise as they decide as a team which stories to listen to when it is their turn. Turning pages turns up the joy for young readers. The independence students gain by reading independently is our goal for a listening center. Students at home will benefit as they share in the retelling by their peers. Students at school will be able to record themselves retelling stories and the children at home can listen to the recordings.
