COVID-19 restrictions and lack of access to an iPad created a uniquely challenging situation to reach my high needs students during speech therapy. My students need unique instruction and access to technology to speak and communicate their wants and needs. This iPad will allow me to assess and provide insight on what communication system is most appropriate for students with complex communication needs. An iPad would be used to support nonverbal students in using their voice: for choices, to share opinions, and communicate for learning. It would also be used for these students to create engaging, modified learning materials with their unique communication prioritized. Technology is essential in fostering independence with my students and giving them skills to thrive in their classrooms and in their homes.
