It is no secret that being a proficient reader is one of the keys to success. Unfortunately many of my students are reading at least one grade level below average. This is why I have made it my goal to do all that I can to help my students grow as readers. Over the past year I have spent many hours researching the most effective ways to teach students how to read. I have found that explicit instruction in phonics and phonemic awareness is crucial for the success of my students as readers. That is why I have decided to create this Donors Choose. I believe that each and everyone of my students deserves the chance to feel success while reading and these decodable texts will be one way to accomplish this. Decodable readers are specific texts that include words that students are able to sound out given that they include specific word patterns that students know. Please consider donating to this project and help my students be successful readers.
