These books will provide students with options. I have a hard time getting students interested in the books on my shelves because they are older and not geared towards middle schoolers. Reading is such a gateway to learning about oneself, one's peers, and the world around them. Reading improves vocabulary, writing skills, and creativity. It is also such a welcome break for the eyes after staring at computer screens all day. I want students to be interested in what is on my shelves. I want them to beg for independent reading time. I want to have a classroom of readers.
