This school year has been like nothing my students have ever experienced before. They are confused, stressed, and full of questions. My school has been 100% in-person learning since August. However, several other classes have been quarantined with COVID-19 diagnoses. In an effort to combat this disease, my students have been restricted to their single desk and it is not working for us. These kids are energetic and need something more flexible to provide a sense of normalcy to a chaotic year. I want them to have flexible seating options within our room that are rotated once a week and sanitized daily. I, as an adult, do not do well sitting in one place without fidgeting, so I know that it has been incredibly difficult for my third graders. With flexible seating, they will be able to safely find other options of seating and feel in control of their learning environment.
