I want to provide my students a space to go to when things get overwhelming Calming Corner is a quiet area in my school counseling office equipped with soft furnishings and soothing materials to help a student de-escalate when upset. Sometimes my sweet students have bad days. Home problems, friend problems, and/or school problems can weigh them down and they just need a break from their classroom. Sometimes past tramas haunt them and everything just seems too much. For these times, I want to provide for them a safe space. Somewhere quiet and relaxing. Somewhere to go to get centered again. In my office I have a space, but I would like some nicer, evidence based materials, like this sensory mood light table, to make our "safe" space more inviting, calming, and caring for our kids.
