The materials and supplies I am requesting are geared toward keeping my students engaged through differentiated instruction, game play, project-based learning, and communication skills. Students today learn in different ways than they did twenty years ago, and I want to use these materials to not only provide necessary content but also to keep my students excited about the content. My goal for these students is 1) in Spanish classes to use the language in authentic ways by communicating with their classmates through speaking activities and game play and 2) in English classes to get books students are interested in so that they will read more, which in turn will help them on the ACT! I am also including some additions to my classroom library. Budgetary cutbacks have limited us to about 10-15 new books per year. Students want more than that! I tried to include a variety of titles to address this.
