Civics is one of the most overshadowed and undiscussed topics in education. Considering the political and social climate of these times, knowing about one's duties as a citizens of the United States is more important than ever. Students in my fourth-grade class are very civic-minded. They enjoy discussing current events and how they could help make the world a better place. Scholastic News will be used digitally to enhance discussion and create projects from the magazine's topics. They enjoy talking about things they could do in their community to improve it. They have read about kids their age taking civic action in their community and thought of ideas on how they could help.
