These picture books will be integrated into our social-emotional learning curriculum. We supplement social-emotional learning, by reading a picture book each day which explores character-building attributes and social issues. By addressing childhood homelessness and poverty, my students will be able to build their empathy for their classmates and neighbors. The materials will create a lasting impact on students, by putting social issues into local perspective. It will also enhance students' awareness of those in need. My goal is to create opportunities for my students' to demonstrate compassion and awareness of social issues.
