When I started at this school last year, I inherited a mostly empty classroom. It was very unlike previous schools I've worked in, which had years of supplies stored up and reusable basics like paintbrushes. Rather than invest in those things right away, we directed my budget to send a few basic materials home for the students, so my classroom is still very empty. We will be returning to in-person learning next year, and I would really love to have a classroom well-stocked with enriching art supplies. My students were so creative last year and did amazing work, even with just paper and pencils. I can only imagine what they'll do if they get to explore a bigger variety of materials! My priority will be stocking reusable essentials like paintbrushes, scissors, and aprons, as well as classroom sets of important basics like crayons, pencils, drawing paper, and markers. This will give my classroom a foundation to build upon, and hopefully allow me to invest in a greater variety of supplies so that we can explore things like clay and fiber art.
