I work with the most amazing students across my school district. My students range from preschool age all the way through high school. They have a wide range of abilities and physical needs. My role as a School Based Physical Therapist is to work on maintenance of gross motor skills and help them to be physically engaged in their classrooms. In order to make Therapy fun and Educational I love to incorporate STEM activities. Reviewing colors, shapes, animals, animal sounds and body parts as I ask them to reach, stretch, toss, and catch is a lot more fun. That's where these fun new toys come into play. I know my students will work even harder to get the rings on the ring toss, knock those silly faces down with the bean bag toss, and get the balls to stick to the game board. They will have so much fun with the animal sounds puzzle and the bubble gun that plays music. They will have to work extra hard using the bench as support to hold their upper bodies and heads up to see in front of them. Many of my students are motivated by music and educational videos. With my traveling from school to school it will be nice to have iPad which is lightweight, portable, and durable! I am so excited about this year of therapy with these fun new activities and I know my students will be excited also!
