Fine motor dexterity and prehension are foundational skills for controlled use of a scissors, a writing tool, or to complete fasteners on clothing. When engaging in motor movements to pick up small objects, hold and manipulate a marker or tongs, or pinching/rolling/squeezing playdoh - all these tasks help to improve muscle strength and dexterity in a child's hand. By addressing these skills, a child will refine their grasp and coordination so that they are better able to cut with a scissors or write letters for handwriting activities. These tools can provide endless creative, practice activities to improve grasp and hand function. The more children enjoy practicing and engaging in these tasks, the more their skills develop! Please support this project to provide these children essential skill building tools to use at home during distance learning!
