My students' backgrounds are vibrant and beautiful. Together, they represent cultures from all over the world. As many of my students are first generation Americans, I want to build a library that includes stories told by children they may relate to or find empowering. I want my students to see themselves in the books I read to them, and I want them to know that they are learning in a safe and inclusive classroom designed for their success. My students are going through hardships that they may not be able to express, and I hope through literature they may hear a similar story and understand they are not alone.
