Due to the COVID pandemic my students are learning from home via synchronous classes. Some of their learning is on a tablet. 5 year olds are still just developing fine motor skill so expecting them to be able to "print" using only their little fingers on a screen is unrealistic. Beginning writers need tools that will serve to encourage practice. It is with a writing instrument in their hand that they will be successful in mastering writing on a tablet and writing on paper. Having a writing tool that a child can control will also lower frustration when working on a tablet.
