I teach in a Dual Immersion classroom, which means 90% of the instruction is in Spanish and 10% is in English at the first-grade level! My classroom is comprised of English Learner (EL) students, English as a Second Language (ESL) students from low-income households, as well as English only students. The families are as involved as they can be, but many parents work long hours and don't have time to read at home and practice letters and numbers with their children. These kids are extremely capable learners, but require a little extra motivation and different ways of reaching them through more interactive learning tools.
