Being a new teacher in a special education classroom, I need a specific curriculum to help teach my students. I teach 6th and 7th-grade students who are behind several grade levels when it comes to reading and writing. Most of the materials created for their independent reading level are very elementary and discourage my middle school students. They know they are lower academically, but they don't need to be reminded of it by elementary resources. I've found some fantastic resources already created by teachers who work with middle school reading intervention that my students will love because they are more geared to their age. They won't feel discouraged the second they look at this resource because I am able to remove any clip art that might look too elementary to them. I not only teach face to face learner, but I have at home learners as well. These resources will be perfect for my distance learners as well!
