As a special education teacher, I offer my students with more than just academics. My students' needs range from ADHD to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); students that need self-regulation strategies; these are all things that are taught in my classroom. The items needed are for students now learning at home virtually, where in many cases, parents do not have the means to provide materials and tools necessary for their children to self-regulate. Timers, chair bands, therapeutic putty, stress balls, and dry erase pockets helping students to follow daily schedules are all items to promote self-agency in students trying to gain self-calming routines outside of the classroom.
