We are now living in a world where we must wear masks to go anywhere. I am having a hard time having my students hear me with a mask on, especially those with hearing aides. When I speak louder I find myself running out of breath, and by having a voice amplifier it will eliminate the issues I am experiencing. The majority of my students come from low-income families and/or are ESL. In my ESL class I have a wide range of EL students, one of them just moved here from Mexico, and knows no English. The books and sight word poems will help me teach these students how to read and be able to speak, and write in academic English. In my science classes we are on the computers constantly. We create charts, graphs, annotate and do much more on the computers. Students either draw with their computer pad or finger, which creates smudges and information being on top of each other--creating it difficult to read at times. Having each student get their own stylist will help the work of the student be more readable and appealing. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will allow me to purchase resources throughout the year for both my science and ESL classes, since we don't have the funds for it. I have a manual pencil sharpener that works at times. Due to the pandemic I disinfect it every time a student uses it to eliminate the spread of germs. By having an automatic one it will allow my students to sharpen their pencils instantly without having to go back and forth disinfecting it.
