Meaningful reading during self-selected reading time improves every academic subject. However, children need a variety of books to meet their interests. I always take interest inventories at the beginning of the school year to match students to books. Yet, COVID has changed the way my classroom library will work this year. Due to safety recommendations and precautions, I need a larger classroom library with more reading options for students. We can not share our classroom books as we are used to, so having more books will help ensure all students have options!!
