Due to COVID, our classroom has shifted to remote learning. First graders are hands-on learners and need manipulatives such as counting chips to help them learn to do math and letter tiles to assist them with making new words and becoming readers. In our normal classroom setting, I would have these materials readily available to distribute to students. Unfortunately, students do not currently have access to important learning materials that are necessary to help them understand new concepts. My students need counting chips for math, letter tiles for literacy, and whiteboards for all subject areas. They also need writing journals for daily reflection and fine motor skills.
