My students absolutely love learning about our history and place in the world as African American intellectuals and creative geniuses. They drive many of the conversations we have in class with their questions on race, culture, and Black history. I learned that they have neither read nor heard of Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry. By each student having a copy of the book, each student will be able to read his/her own book in, and most importantly, outside of school. They will also be able to annotate in their own book and participate fully in the discussions we'll have.
