These globes will be used to teach kids about geography concepts, including but not limited to: latitude and longitude, biomes, topography, and political, regional, and cultural boundaries. Last year, it became apparent to me that simply looking at maps does not help kids picture the vast wonders of our planet. Having globes helps kids picture our planet's order in the cosmos in relation to other celestial bodies, and helps them place themselves within the larger context of global citizenship. It also helps immensely with showing them the correct size of continents, countries, and oceans. Having access to globes drives home the reality that regardless of where we are born, we are all connected through our home, planet earth.

About my class
