I am a School Counselor in the DC area at an Alternative school site. My caseload includes English Language Learners (9th-12th grade) who are trying to graduate despite the many challenges and hardships many of them face. Many of my ELL students think about going to college. However, as their School Counselor I have to motivate them and give them the confidence and hope to continue moving forward. My students are underprivileged but eager to learn. They are kind and respectful. Most of my students will be the first generation to graduate from High School and to attend college.
