Recess is crucial in engaging young minds cognitively, socially, and emotionally. It also keeps children active and gives them the opportunity to take control of their own world by engaging in free-play activity. During this covid pandemic we are currently in, children are not able to play on the playground equipment. By having personalized hula hoops, side walk chalk, and other recess equipment, students are able to enjoy recess without seeing an empty slide, swings, climbing wall, etc wishing they could play with their friends on this equipment. They LOVE sharing and during this time, but they just can't. By having enough equipment and activities so that each student has their own items, they can stay engaged, active, and social, while adhering to the guidelines of this pandemic.
