This summer, I became a Project Lit chapter lead for our school. Project Lit is a grassroots organization focused on getting new and relevant books into the hands of children. As their mission statement says, we need to champion students' identities and their voices, as well as nurture their love of reading. As we are currently virtually teaching, it can be difficult for students to access books. My school librarian and administration team is planning a curbside pick-up program and my Project Lit books will be available. Students in my classes will be able to check out Project Lit titles. The funds from this project will allow students to have continuous access to new and relevant books, as well as continue to develop their love for reading.
