My students will be exploring kindergarten in a year unlike any other. Allowing them to have their own space, to store their own materials, will help to create the welcoming environment that my students will need this year. My kindergarten students will be working in their own ways this year, and what better way to encourage that, than by giving them their own work space! The lap trays will allow each student to store their personal items, as well as all of their school tools. Individual lap trays will be used at school for all of our learning activities. Students will have their tools readily available, in their lap tray, instead of gathering their tools and materials by moving around the classroom. My students will have their scissors, glue, and markers at their finger tips during art time. Pattern blocks and dominoes will be at the ready for math class. Magnetic letters, whiteboards, and their dry erase markers will be within reach for Language Arts centers. A lap desk for each student will help all students feel a sense of ownership and pride over their learning and organization.
